The Department of Mental Health Nursing and Community Wellness in the Faculty of Nursing invites applications for an entry-level, full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2026, subject to final budgetary approval. The Faculty of Nursing delivers excellent nursing education across four academic Departments, which collectively offer a Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing (BPN), as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN), a Bridge to Canadian Nursing Certificate and other post-credential learning experiences. The Department of Mental Health Nursing and Community Wellness encompasses courses that focus on promoting the health of diverse populations within settings specific to psychiatric, mental health, and community nursing. Specific courses underscore the importance of nursing care for individuals, families, communities and populations, while also exploring key concepts such as addictions, and healthy communities across the life journey. You will teach undergraduate nursing students in various settings (mostly lab and classroom) and inspire student learning across departments and programs within the Faculty of Nursing. You must have a terminal degree (Masters required and PhD preferred) in a nursing related field with experience in mental health and/or psychiatric nursing. You will demonstrate a primary commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and be committed to developing and sustaining an ongoing program of research. You will have curriculum development experience and have a passion for innovation in nursing education. Applicants must have unencumbered licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) and/or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA) and meet the requisite skills and abilities of the applicable profession(s). You will submit a cover letter and curriculum vitae at the time of application. A teaching dossier (including recent teaching evaluations), statement of research interests, and sample of scholarly work will be requested should you be selected for an interview.
