Start Date: May 11, 2026 End Date: Negotiable between August 31, 2026 and October 5, 2026 Term: Full Time Seasonal Timescale: 35 hours / 5 days per week (maximum 40 hours per week) Location: Canmore, Kananaskis, and Banff Working Conditions: Active outdoor environment - physically demanding (lifting/pushing/pulling), required to work outdoors in summer conditions up to 5 days a week, shared office environment Wage: $19.50 - $22 per hour (commensurate on certifications and experience) Perks & Benefits: Access to pro deals, use of program equipment on personal time (as available), extensive paid training, access to shared office computers Report to: Operations Manager Position Overview The Hike Program Lead will assist with the planning, organizing, leading and delivery of summer programs, focusing primarily on hiking while being crosstrained in all areas. The successful applicant will act in a handson role facilitating hiking activities, facilitating other activities and lessons, facilitating hiking rentals, setting up and packing down adaptive equipment, greeting guests and family members, providing community awareness of adaptive sport, monitoring and recording each guest's equipment needs and skill, plus other assigned duties. They will split their time between instruction, and group program supervision with the Program management team. Responsibilities - Facilitate a variety of adaptive hiking activities (about 75% of the role). May include multiple activity formats such as multiweek programs, private lessons for individuals and/or families, specialized group lessons or camps. - Ensure proper duty of care is maintained for participants, and risks are minimized. - Maintain and set up / take down all required equipment. - Complete regular lesson report forms, daily debrief forms, and equipment logs for all activities, including notes on equipment setup, assessment of skill level, challenges and successes, and plan for future lessons. - Engage with parents and/or guardians to provide feedback about participant progress, and gather input to improve the program. - Assist Operations Manager and Training & Program Development Manager with program planning, training, execution, and supervision: - Assist in program planning and lesson planning for upcoming activities. - Carry out prelesson assessment calls for all participants; review and understand individual participant health information and instruction preferences. - Scout various program location options. - Assist with instructor and volunteer training sessions. - Assist other instructors with the evaluation and reporting of participant performance, identification of any risks or challenges, and potential solutions; follow up on any missing forms and/or documentation. - Assist with the setup and maintenance of various adaptive equipment. - Ensure all programs have required supplies and equipment; communicate needs to the Operations Manager. - Act as Supervisor on Duty when other managers are not present. - Assist in facilitating other adaptive activities, as required (biking, paddling, others). - Help with RMAs marketing and outreach efforts: gather photo and video content from participants to help them tell their RMA experience stories; - Assist with various fundraisers and/or outreach events. - Drive RMA vehicles and trailers for any programming needs. - Assist with other duties as assigned. Requirements Mandatory Requirements - Qualifications: - Standard First Aid (AED / CPR C) - OCC Field Leader (course can be provided during training, continued employment conditional on passing) - Class 5 Drivers Licence - Skills & Experience: - Experience in a leadership role - A keen interest in outdoor education and adaptive sport - Advanced / experienced hiker - Experience working with individuals with physical and/or neurodivergent challenges - Ability to problemsolve, work independently and as part of a team - Time management and organizational skills - Good oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills Ideal Requirements - Qualifications: - Lake Kayak Instructor Level 1 (course can be provided during training, continued employment conditional on passing) - 40 hr Wilderness Advanced First Aid - 80 hr Wilderness First Responder - Qualifications in teaching or facilitating other outdoor activities (paddling, biking, or other mountain sports) - Class 4 Drivers Licence - Skills & Experience: - Related postsecondary education (fields of outdoor leadership, health care, disability studies, support work, or other therapyrelated fields) - Experience or interest in paddling, biking, swimming, climbing, or other mountain sports - Multiday tripping experience - Access to personal transport - Experience driving a truck and trailer - Strong computer skills, including Excel and Word Eligibility Criteria This position is funded through the Canadian Government Summer Jobs Grant Program.
