Job Description

The Materials and Corrosion Engineer / Specialist is responsible for the pressure equipment integrity. The role is responsible for maintaining the unit corrosion control documents as the foundation for Pressure Equipment Integrity Management. The role also includes assuring that potential materials degradation issues are identified for process and equipment changes, working proactively with operations, maintenance, engineering and inspection personnel to assure equipment integrity issues are getting properly addressed and providing input to the Unit Inspector on technical aspects during the scope development stage including repair or alteration plans for pressure vessels. Provides technical assurance on Management of Change (MOC) for pressure equipment issues and supports Pressure Equipment Inspectors and Engineers as needed on SRBI Reassessments and Revalidations, Interval Extension Analysis, Turnaround workscope challenges. Accountabilities: Provides engineering support to Projects in materials specification, selection, and design reviews. Owns and maintains corrosion control documents (CCDs) and the care strategies for static equipment including the RBI living program and Integrity Operating Window (IOW) monitoring tags. Owns the long-term health of Cathodic Protection facilities and effectiveness of water treatment chemicals in preventing equipment corrosion issues. Provides technical assurance on Management of Change for materials & corrosion issues. Reviews, provides technical input, and ensure adherence to group standards (DEP, ISO/API, etc.) for new installations, retrofits and modifications through the MOC process. Owns, leads, or support causal investigations, structured problem solving, LFIs, and failure analysis. Owns, prioritizes, and drives equipment Manage Threat and Opportunitys (MTO) root cause analysis and long-term solutions according to site priorities. Supports the organization with short term issues on an as-needed basis. Works proactively with operations, maintenance, engineering and inspection to ensure equipment integrity issues are properly addressed. Provides Corrosion and Material Engineering support during turnaround work scope collection, challenges and execution. Provides proactive technical input to site work processes (MTO, MOC, RCM, HEMP, PTIE, RADAR/SONAR) to maintain and improve site reliability and safety. Assists Inspectors and Engineers in analyzing collected data from inspection events, RBI Reassessments and Revalidations, and provides inputs into repair, alteration, inspection plans and interval extension for equipment. Keeps up to date with industry learnings on materials and corrosion discipline. Responsible to communicate outcomes from long term strategic initiatives with the responsible asset. Reviews & approves WPS Drive Enterprise First behaviors with regard to Leadership, Accountability and Teamwork Supporting development, implementation and continuation of quality and reliability initiatives. Qualifications: BS or MS in engineering (chemical or Materials) or Technical Diploma is Materials or Welding Technology Highly capable with the use of RBI 8 years plus relevant industry experience #J-18808-Ljbffr
