Job Description The Power Engineer/Building Technician is responsible for operating the facility, including mechanical and other supporting systems; performing structured inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, routine and ondemand services on facility mechanical equipment and other systems. The Technician also performs work in accordance with established processes and practices and complies with internal and external requirements, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection. Contract Dates: May August 2026. Work Arrangement: fully onsite within a specific city, without travel outside the area. Work Location: TBD, but cities include Edmonton, Calgary, Grande Prairie. Key Duties & Responsibilities Troubleshooting: Provides observations about facility, mechanical and electrical equipment, systems conditions and deficiencies and suggests enhancements and repairs. Maintenance: Performs work in accordance with established processes and practices; complies with all internal and external requirements; conducts regular facility and equipment inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure uptime objectives; responds to routine and ondemand service requests; monitors facilities through walkthroughs; operates mechanical systems; manages work order lifecycle; assists in implementing the PM program, records defects, escalates deficiencies, and maintains related documents. Client Relations: Assists in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations through the manner in which work is performed and services are delivered. Administration: Participates in facilityrelated projects; ensures compliance with corporate and legislative policies; maintains assigned tools and arranges for repair/replacement; submits expenditures on time; performs other duties as assigned. Education, Experience & Qualifications High school diploma plus trades training and/or certification or licensing. Experience providing preventive and corrective maintenance on heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, or pneumatic or hydraulic systems. Sound knowledge of processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance. Demonstrated ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair mechanical and other building systems and equipment. Possesses a strong environmental, health, and safety mindset. Strong clientservice orientation along with a high sense of urgency. Knowledge and understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS) & HVAC Systems. Effective communication skills for data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification. Mentoring skills required to support lowerlevel technicians development. Must be able and willing to work shifts, be available for oncall/standby and emergency callouts as they arise. Must strictly adhere to Health and Safety policies including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation ABSA Power Engineer 4th Class required. ABSA Power Engineer 3rd Class considered an asset. This is a fulltime, contract position with a salary range of $19 $23 per hour. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidates competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
