As we expand our General Surgery division to meet growing community demand, we are looking for a motivated, skilled surgeon to join a collegial and high-performing team. This role offers a unique blend of high-volume clinical practice and academic involvement through our longstanding affiliation with the University of Toronto. Core Responsibilities Clinical Excellence: Perform comprehensive General Surgery care, including emergency and elective care, endoscopy and specialized colorectal care (MIS/robotic surgery for benign/malignant disease). Education & Mentorship: A commitment to excellence in education, active participation in the training and supervision of medical students and residents. Strategic Contribution: A commitment to advance the strategic goals of the Division of General Surgery. An interest in pursuing scholarly activity including clinical and health outcomes research is encouraged. Qualifications & Requirements Education: MD (or equivalent) with Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) certification in General Surgery. Licensure: Eligible for an independent license in Ontario. Training: Fellowship training and certification in colorectal surgery or surgical oncology (with colorectal focus). Specialized Skills: Experience in robotic surgery preferred. Interpersonal Skills: Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate experience in leadership and exceptional interprofessional skills to further the divisional goals of growth and success of the colorectal program with a particular focus on advancing robotic colorectal surgery at our site. Academic Requirement: The successful candidate will be eligible for an appointment in the Department of Surgery at the University of Toronto, commensurate with their qualification and academic achievement. About Michael Garron Hospital MGH is a vibrant community teaching hospital, affiliated with the University of Toronto, and serves one of Canadas most diverse communities in East Toronto. Annually, the Hospital provides care for 23,000 inpatients, has over 120,000 emergency visits, and 225,000 outpatient visits. We have 515 beds comprised of acute care, rehabilitation and complex continuing care beds. MGH has a closed ICU and full access to diagnostic imaging (US, CT, MRI), a DaVinci Xi platform, as well as interventional endoscopy services including ERCP & EUS.
