Design 1 Indoor Environmental Inspections Nova Scotia (Travel Required) Design 1 Indoor Environmental Inspections is a growing environmental consulting and testing firm specializing in asbestos, mould, indoor air quality, and hazardous materials assessments across Nova Scotia. We are seeking an experienced Environmental Technician to join our team and support field investigations, sampling, and project delivery. Position Overview This role is primarily field-based and requires an individual who is comfortable working independently, travelling to a variety of sites, and maintaining a high standard of technical accuracy and professionalism. The successful candidate will have strong experience in asbestos and mould inspections and be confident working in active construction, renovation, and occupied building environments. Key Responsibilities - Conduct asbestos and mould inspections in residential, commercial, and institutional buildings - Perform bulk sampling, air monitoring, clearance testing, and mould assessments - Complete pre- and post-abatement inspections and documentation - Accurately record field notes, chain-of-custody forms, and sampling details - Maintain equipment and ensure proper sampling techniques and QA/QC procedures - Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, and project managers on site - Prepare client-ready reports based on your completed field work - Travel throughout Nova Scotia as required (including occasional early starts and extended days) Required Qualifications & Experience - Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in environmental consulting or inspection - Strong background in asbestos and mould testing is an asset - Familiarity with OH&S requirements and industry best practices - Experience working in construction, renovation, or demolition environments - Valid drivers licence and ability to travel regularly - Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently - Professional, reliable, and safety-focused approach to work Assets (Considered an Advantage) - Asbestos Inspector or related certifications - Experience with PCM air monitoring and clearance testing - Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) assessment experience - Report writing or technical documentation experience What We Offer - Competitive compensation based on experience - Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement - Opportunity to work on a wide range of projects across Nova Scotia - Supportive, professional work environment - Opportunity for growth within a growing environmental firm How to Apply Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience to [email protected] Job Type: Full-time Work Location: On the road & In Office
