As the Communications Advisor Capital Projects, you will lead communications for the Towns most significant infrastructure and capital initiatives. You will translate complex technical information into clear, accessible updates that help residents understand how projects are progressing and how they contribute to Cochranes longterm vision. Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Communications, you will work closely with Engineering Services, Capital Projects and teams across the organization to plan and deliver communications strategies from project initiation through completion. Your work will ensure project information is accurate, timely, consistent and aligned with the Towns strategic priorities. This role plays an important part in strengthening transparency, clarity and trust as Cochrane continues to grow. ***This is a 10-month temporary position that will commence in April 2026 and end in February 2027. *** Why build your career with Cochrane? What are some of the duties of the Communications Advisor - Capital Projects? - Develop and lead strategic communication plans for major capital and infrastructure projects, aligned with corporate priorities. - Engage early in project initiation to align communication with project scope and complexity. - Maintain a cross-project communications calendar to coordinate timelines and ensure consistent messaging. - Develop clear, accessible content across channels including the Town website and Lets Talk Cochrane engagement platform, social media, newsletters and visual materials. - Plan and deliver engagement activities (open houses, pop-ups, surveys, info sessions) with the Public Engagement Advisor. - Monitor media coverage, community sentiment and analytics; provide insights to inform communication strategies. - Lead communications related to construction impacts, timelines and disruptions, including risk and issues management. - Prepare reporting and evaluation materials including dashboards, summaries, engagement results, monthly updates. Qualifications, skills and abilities Education and experience: Required: - Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related discipline. - Minimum three (3) years of experience in communications, public affairs or related roles (municipal or infrastructure experience preferred). - Experience developing and delivering strategic communications/engagement plans for complex or multistakeholder projects. - Experience in a municipal or government setting considered an asset. - Experience developing multimedia content (photo, video or graphic design) to support storytelling and digital campaigns. Skills and abilities: Required: - Advanced written and visual storytelling skills. - Strong digital communications skills including content strategy, analytics, and content management tools. - Ability to coordinate work across departments and maintain a crossproject engagement calendar. - Ability to provide strategic advice and support issues/crisis communications related to construction impacts and community concerns. - Politically astute and aware of municipal context and resident expectations. - Design sensibility; proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite or Canva. Certifications, Licenses and/or Designations: Required: - A valid Alberta Class 5 Drivers License - Preferred: - Professional accreditation with CPRS or IABC considered an asset. - Public engagement training or designation considered an asset.
