Location: Powell River/qathet Regional District Schedule: Flexible days and hours, mostly evenings Salary Or Wage: $44.55 per hour Job Type: Casual List of Requirements - Masters degree in Counselling Psychology or a related field and two (2) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience - Relevant certification in response based narrative approaches, specifically in work with men - Registration with a recognized professional association for counselling practices - Experience in providing services in anti-violence prevention, intervention, or therapeutic contexts - Understanding and demonstration of the relevant legislation, policy, and systems associated with intimate partner violence - Demonstrated ability in applying a gender-based analysis to intimate partner relationships in practice - Experience in providing individual and group services, preferably with men in anti-violence intervention programs - Demonstrated capacity in providing individual and group counselling in an anti-violence setting List of Duties - The Men Choose Respect (MCR) Group Facilitator will be responsible in the coordination and the delivery of intervention groups for men who want to change their use of violence and abuse within their relationships. The MCR Group Facilitator will work within an approved curriculum and framework of practice. - Provide intake processes in individual sessions with men seeking to participate in the Men Choose Respect program. - Apply appropriate risk and safety assessments, engage in safety conversations with participants and partners and assist to connect to services. Provide appropriate referrals to other services in the Society or community. - Provide group facilitation in groups with men who have used violence and abuse, following an established curriculum. - Use skilled approaches in individual and group counselling and facilitation. Resolve potential group conflict, promote engagement and interaction, using methods to facilitate a complex group dynamic. Recognize and respond to resistance, support engagement in group process with regard for dignity, diversity of experiences and life situation and respect for human rights. - Apply a gender based and intersectional analysis to work with clients and situations, recognize and respond to gendered narratives within an anti-oppressive framework. - Provide support to clients during group processes and possible follow up if required and within the scope of the program.
