Clinic Details Royal Inland Hospital The Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is a 273bed facility that serves as the referral centre for approximately 250,000 people, located in the ThompsonCaribooShuswap Health Service Area. As one of two Interior Health tertiary referral hospitals, RIH is a norefusal centre with an Emergency Department that receives over 250 major trauma cases and 62,000 visits per year. RIH offers highlevel, specialty medical care including core physician specialties, 24hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Ambulatory and Outpatient Clinics, and Diagnostic Services. Specialty services include Acute Inpatient Psychiatry, Tertiary Inpatient and Community Psychiatric Services, noninterventional Cardiology, Infectious Disease, Neurology, Gastroenterology and others. Support services include a full complement of diagnostic equipment, a Clinical Neurophysiology Lab and Sleep Lab, 1.5T MRI, CT scan, and Echocardiography. RIH also features TPA Stroke, Stroke Thrombolysis, and provincial Tertiary Neuropsychiatry Programs. It is the regional base for the sixperson, 24hour High Acuity Response Team (HART) utilised in remote emergency transport situations. Surgical services include General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, Otolaryngology, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and 24/7 Anesthesia coverage. Practice Details Our growing team is seeking fulltime General Pathologists to join Kamloops Pathology Associates Ltd. We are based at the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, B.C. and primarily provide Anatomical and Clinical Pathology Services within the ThompsonCaribooShuswap Health Service Area of the Interior Health Laboratory System. The successful candidate(s) will be joining an onsite collegial group of ten other laboratory physicians (nine general/anatomical and one medical microbiologist) reporting to the Area Laboratory Medical Director/Department Head. We can provide strong mentorship for a new graduate. Duties and Responsibilities Participation in general surgical/autopsy pathology, hematopathology (including transfusion medicine), nongynecological cytology, and medical biochemistry. Equal participation in the departmental oncall rota, committee work, and some limited regional lab oversight. Anatomical pathologist applicants with additional experience in clinical pathology will also be considered. The site is closely linked to the University of British Columbias Faculty of Medicine, so teaching residents and medical students is also possible.
