LOCATION: This position will be hybrid in Manitoba SCHEDULE: Full-time REPORTS TO: SVP of Insurance Operations & Service DIRECT REPORTS: Residential Underwriting Supervisors, Specialists, Advisors PURPOSE OF POSITION: This position is responsible for leading the Residential Underwriting team and the development, growth, and profitability of the residential lines business from a department and corporate perspective. KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS: - Lead the residential underwriting team - Manage the residential lines as a portfolio, striking a balance between growth and profit - Influence the development and deployment of residential insurance products - Maintaining knowledge of current market trends, wording development and product offerings - Create and implement project plans for residential lines, product and services - Cultivate relationships between residential underwriters and brokers - Implement training for underwriters and brokers - Create operational efficiencies while maintaining high underwriting quality standards - Determine and manage residential lines budget - Develop and provide training, tools, guides and other resources and information to brokers and Underwriting Team as a subject matter expert - Analyze, evaluate and report on all residential lines activity and results - Build and maintain relationships with re-insurance partners, and brokers - Work cross-functionally within Red River Mutual departments (marketing, human resources, broker relations, claims etc.) - Attend industry, broker and corporate events - Conduct wording development for residential lines keeping up with current market trends and products - Support and mentor Residential Lines Supervisors, Specialists and Advisors to engage in current performance management metrics for staff through the development of qualitative and quantitative measurement tools - Assist, enable and empower supervisors and underwriters in promoting their professional development and in facilitating their education requirements - Be a positive advocate and ambassador for Red River Mutual both internally and externally. QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS: - Proven leadership, team work and collaboration skills - Excellent written, and verbal communication ability - Strong problem solving, analytics and critical thinking skills - High stress tolerance, flexibility and ability to adapt to change - Able to innovate and persuade key stakeholders - Effective negotiating, judgement and decision making skills - Business degree, CIP, and/or equivalent professional qualification - Minimum 5 years experience in underwriting including technical underwriting skills and wording development - Experience in customer service We thank all applicants for their interest; however only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
