SICF has completed its foundational year and established a five-year strategic plan. Governance structures, financial policies, and operational frameworks are in place. Early partnerships are forming, and the vision is clear. The Executive Director will build on this strong foundation operationalizing strategy, strengthening systems and infrastructure, deepening partnerships, and growing the organization in alignment with Indigenous values and long-term responsibility. A key part of this role will be helping SICF expand its philanthropic partnerships and resource base, ensuring the Foundation has the resources required to support Indigenous communities across Saskatchewan for generations to come. This is a builder role with a defined direction. Who We Are Looking For SICF, whose Board is made up of Indigenous Peoples from our lands, is seeking an Executive Director who leads with integrity, humility, and a deep commitment to Indigenous communities and collective wellbeing. We are intentionally centering leadership characteristics , relational capacity , and lived experience alongside the skills required to steward an Indigenous-led organization. We welcome candidates whose leadership journeys may come from community, governance, nonprofit leadership, grassroots organizing, public service, or adjacent sectors. We are seeking a leader who is energized by building someone who is comfortable growing partnerships, strengthening resources, and helping scale a young foundation into a permanent Indigenous-led foundation serving communities across Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will bring the ability to hold both structure and possibility: stewarding what has already been built while helping the Foundation grow thoughtfully, responsibly, and in alignment with Indigenous values and community priorities. We are seeking a leader with the capacity and commitment to learn this work while remaining grounded in Indigenous values and community accountability. Experience working within environments where resources, relationships, and community priorities intersect, or readiness to grow into this work Understanding of, or willingness to develop fluency in fiduciary responsibility, ensuring that funds are managed with care, transparency, and accountability Understanding of, or willingness to develop experience in philanthropic fundraising, donor stewardship, and partnership development Ability to navigate power dynamics in funding and partnership relationships while centering community priorities Comfort translating strategic priorities into operational action Operational & Organizational Leadership Capacity to oversee organizational operations, finances, and staff in partnership with the Board Experience implementing strategic plans in growing organizations Ability to strengthen and formalize human resource policies and internal systems Experience operationalizing governance and financial frameworks Comfort stepping into a first-staff-leader role and building organizational culture Sound judgment and clarity in decision-making, particularly where relational and financial responsibilities intersect Experience in helping organizations grow their revenue, partnerships, or funding base, or readiness to develop this capacity in order to sustainably scale the Foundations impact. The successful candidate will bring a combination of the following competencies, whether gained through formal roles, community leadership, governance experience, or lived responsibility: Experience working with or reporting to a Board or governing body Financial oversight experience (including budget development, financial review, or stewardship of organizational resources) Experience leading people, teams, or collaborative initiatives Organizational leadership experience that balances vision and day-to-day operations Ability to prioritize and sequence growth thoughtfully and sustainably Post-secondary education in a relevant field is considered an asset. Equivalent lived, professional, or community-based experience will be equally valued. Reporting Relationship The Executive Director reports directly to SICFs Board of Directors. Working in close partnership with the Board Chair and Board Committees, the Executive Director is responsible for advancing the Foundations strategic plan, strengthening governance and operational systems, and stewarding resources with integrity and accountability. As the Foundation grows, the Executive Director will build and lead staff and infrastructure aligned with strategic priorities. Location & Travel The position is based in Saskatchewan. The Executive Director is expected to maintain strong relationships across the province and will travel regularly to communities, gatherings, partner meetings, and provincial/national gatherings. SICF supports a flexible hybrid work environment. While some work may be conducted virtually, meaningful in-person presence and relationship-building across Saskatchewan are essential to this role. This is a full-time Executive Director position. The salary range for the role is $150,000 $200,000 annually, commensurate with experience, scope of leadership, and demonstrated capacity to steward an Indigenous-led organization at scale.
