Associate, Human Factors Calgary, AB 30 Forensic Engineering is one of Canadas largest and most respected multi-disciplinary forensic firms. We serve a wide range of industries including Insurance, Manufacturing, Legal, Construction, Health Care, Commercial and Residential Property, Financial, Government, Hospitality, Mining, Renewable Energy, and Transportation. Purpose: The Human Factors team evaluates human behavior in both forensic and non forensic contexts. This includes assessing driver opportunity to avoid collisions, as well as evaluating human performance within specific processes, tools, and environments. The Associate reports to the Practice Lead and works closely with senior team members to support client consultations, conduct examinations and analysis, and prepare clear, concise technical reports and presentations. Responsibilities: Perform site examinations to gather field measurements Includes site measurements relating to driver performance in collision and non-collision events. Includes assessment of lighting conditions and calibrated photography to assess the conspicuity of hazards Includes use of measurement tools to assess friction of surfaces involved in slips, trips and falls Conduct literature reviews to synthesize research and evidence into a cohesive and straight-forward opinion Assist in the preparation of technical reports based upon sound investigations and analysis Effectively communicate investigation and analysis findings to colleagues Be prepared to provide expert testimony in court Manage and complete tasks within investigations according to client-approved scopes of work, in order to deliver high quality reports on time and within budget Manage timesheets, invoicing and accounts receivable on projects according to organizational best practices Continue to establish your presence in the marketplace through regular publication, inperson client meetings and participation in professional communities Develop an understanding of the core values of the firm and familiarization with the strategic plan Put a key emphasis and focus on the development of skills specific to the business and work towards being a significant contributor to the firm Participation in industry events and seminars Perform additional duties as required Qualifications: A sound base in the application of engineering and/or scientific method to problem solving and deductive reasoning Post graduate degree in human factors, kinesiology or engineering (with human factors content) with emphasis in driver performance, reaction time, perception and response, is preferred Work experience in forensic engineering and human factors / ergonomics an asset Professional certification with the Canadian College for the Certification of Professional Ergonomists (CCCPE), or equivalent, an asset Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills Valid drivers license and willingness to travel as required.
