Job Description: Major Job Functions Business Partnership / Customer Service: Act as the first point of contact for employee inquiries related to payroll, benefits, recruitment, onboarding, policies, and Workday. Identifies and escalates complex inquiries or cases as needed. Provide HR administrative support, including presentations, data gathering, letter drafting, and Workday transactions. Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive HR and employee information. Support leaders and HRBPs with transactional Workday HCM activities. Prepare offer letters, employment verifications, termination/layoff documents and other ad-hoc letters as required. Build business knowledge and strong working relationships with leaders. Ensure consistent interpretation and application of HR policies and procedures. Reporting / Analytics: Create HR reporting and analytics on KPIs such as turnover, recruitment, performance reviews, employee experience, training, and compensation, and recommend process improvements based on trends. Complete unionspecific reporting, including temporary transfers, seniority, accommodation tracking, and ability management. Prepare ad hoc reports in support of daytoday HR Services needs, projects, HR cycles, and initiatives. Performance Development: Partner with HRBPs and HR Managers to develop skills in investigations, terminations, performance management, training, and labour relations support. Build generalist HR capability by supporting HR strategies across employee relations, talent management, compensation, training, and disability/ability management. Work with leaders to develop and review job profiles and job evaluation summaries for compensation processes. Manage HCM position management tasks, including position creation, job and compensation changes, and supervisory organization updates. Recommend process improvements and support HR audits as needed. Interpret and explain Collective Agreements, policies, procedures, and relevant legislation. Administrative: Conduct exit interviews and compile trend reports. Coordinate site-access drug and alcohol testing and issue clearance letters. Manage the employee recall process in alignment with the applicable CBA. Prepare presentations, employment documents, announcements, and maintain distribution lists. Perform administrative tasks including filing, invoicing, expense coding, data maintenance, and ordering office supplies for the HR team. Mandatory (Must-Have) Skills: Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration or Human Resources 2 to 3 years HR generalist experience; or Combination of both education and experience would be considered Proficient in all aspects of the MS Office Suite Prior experience with any HRIS System (Workday) Nice-to-Have (Non-Mandatory) Skills: Experience working in a unionized work environment is an asset Working towards CPHR designation would be considered an asset Understands and can interpret the collective agreements as it relates to Finning (Canada) Knowledge and understanding of Privacy legislations, labour and employment laws, regulations, procedures and standards in Canada Understanding of change management methodologies. Understanding of project management approaches and techniques. Knowledge of Workers Compensation Board and WorkSafeBC Soft Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment Excellent initiative, combined with planning, analytical and decision making skills Effective written & verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail Adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
