Join the team that keeps it all secure, we are hiring a Manager, Access & Surveillance at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The Manager, Access & Surveillance is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, performance, and integrity of Surveillance and Access Control functions within the Security Operations Centre (SOC). This role provides operational leadership and technical oversight to ensure access control systems, surveillance monitoring, and security procedures are managed effectively and consistently. The Manager maintains situational awareness of daily building operations and upcoming events, ensuring the facility remains secure while supporting smooth operational flow. Reporting to the Director, Safety & Security and working closely with frontline security teams, event operations, internal departments, suppliers, and emergency services, the Manager acts as a key operational link to ensure security protocols, access policies, and compliance standards are upheld. This position plays a critical role in coordinating incident response, supporting event logistics, and maintaining a safe, secure, and efficient environment for staff, contractors, and visitors. What You Will Do Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of the Surveillance and Access Control teams, ensuring consistent coverage, performance, and adherence to security policies and procedures. Assign daily duties, manage shift operations, and provide real-time direction during events, incidents, and operational activities. Monitor team performance while providing coaching, guidance, and recognition to support a high-performing and accountable team. Support workforce planning and scheduling to ensure appropriate staffing levels for events, overnight operations, and peak activity periods. Act as the escalation point for complex access requests, incident reviews, and operational or security-related issues. Oversee the management and integrity of electronic access control systems, including credential creation, activation, modification, and deactivation. Maintain access control databases, system logs, and permission levels, ensuring accuracy and alignment with operational and event-specific requirements. Conduct regular audits of access control systems to ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and operational needs. Investigate and resolve access discrepancies, security breaches, or system irregularities, working closely with internal IT teams and external system vendors. Oversee back-of-house access operations including staff and contractor entrances, loading bays, restricted areas, and supplier check-in processes. Support operational coordination for parking, deliveries, logistics access, and Facilities Service Requests (FSRs). Ensure consistent enforcement of access control policies, security protocols, and escalation procedures across all shifts. Maintain compliance with Occupational Health & Safety requirements, privacy legislation, and emergency management protocols. Oversee surveillance and security monitoring systems including CCTV, video management platforms, electronic access control systems, intrusion detection, fire alarm panels, and life-safety systems. Ensure accurate documentation, audit-ready records, and secure handling of surveillance footage and system data. Supervise radio communications and key management processes to ensure operational efficiency and security control. What You Will Bring A bachelors degree in business, Criminology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Incident Command System (ICS) Level 100 and 200 certification, or the ability to obtain it, is considered an asset. Five to seven years of progressive experience in security operations, public safety, or venue operations within a complex or high-volume environment. Experience working in event-based or multi-use facilities with strong exposure to security coordination, emergency response, and operational logistics. Demonstrated experience with electronic access control systems and surveillance platforms. Strong working knowledge of security operations including CCTV systems, access control technologies, and life safety systems. Experience using operational software platforms such as Momentus, Microsoft Office applications, and mobile technologies. Strong situational awareness and the ability to analyze complex operational issues while remaining calm under pressure. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to manage radio communications across multiple channels. Proven leadership ability with a collaborative approach to working with frontline teams, internal departments, and external partners. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced operational environment. The salary range for this position is $ 85,000 - $95,000.
