Responsibilities The Division Director is an inspirational and aspirational leader who will drive clinical excellence and the advance academic mandate of the division. They are responsible for providing leadership for the clinical services, undergraduate and postgraduate educational activities, and promoting scholarly activities. The position will include clinical care and administrative responsibilities, along with research, teaching, and/or quality improvement activities aligned with the candidates academic focus. They will report to the Physician-in-Chief at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and lead the division of Geriatric Medicine, which currently comprises 7 full-time academic geriatricians. Qualifications MD degree and, if not already certified, eligibility for certification in Geriatric Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). Eligible for, or demonstrated success in, an academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor (Clinician Teacher/Clinician Educator/Clinician Quality Innovator/Clinician Investigator/Clinician Scientist). Assistant Professors with demonstrated leadership experience relevant to the role may be considered. Respected scholar with an outstanding reputation in clinical research, education or knowledge translation; demonstrated clinical excellence in geriatric medicine. Sophisticated interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaborative working relationships across the organization and with partners, including the University of Toronto. About the Division and Clinical Services The division currently comprises 7 full-time academic geriatricians. The outpatient geriatric services are delivered in the Peter Cipriano Centre for Seniors Health. Opened in October 2025, this 13,000 sq. ft. centre supports Sunnybrooks specialized geriatric services program, delivering evidence-based interdisciplinary care integrated across Sunnybrook. Services include a variety of clinics, geriatric day hospital, outreach service, subspeciality clinics and audiology. Remuneration and Benefits Estimated remuneration will be in the range of $300,000 $400,000 (fee for service/alternate funding plan estimate) commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. The candidate should be eligible for the Ontario Geriatric Medicine AFP. The successful candidate will be a member of the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association through which clinical billings and benefits will be administered.
