Factory Floor Supervisor (Sewing Operations) | Garment Manufacturing Factory (Bilingual Mandarin/Cantonese) Markham, ON | On-site | Full-Time Manufacturing Operations Leadership | CAD 65,000+ (based on experience) We are seeking an experienced Garment Manufacturing Factory Floor Supervisor to lead production operations within a high-volume apparel manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing factory floor execution, optimizing production flow, and maintaining strict quality standards across garment manufacturing lines. The successful candidate will bring deep technical knowledge of garment construction, strong line-balancing expertise, and proven leadership experience managing sewing production teams. The Role The Factory Floor Supervisor will oversee daily garment production across sewing lines, ensuring efficient workflow from raw material intake to finished product output . This role requires a leader who can manage sewing operators, balance production lines, maintain quality standards, and troubleshoot operational bottlenecks in real time. You will be responsible for coordinating more than 30 sewing machine operators , maintaining production targets, and ensuring the factory floor operates with efficiency, discipline, and consistency. Core Responsibilities Oversee daily garment production across sewing lines Supervise and coordinate 30+ sewing machine operators Ensure efficient workflow from raw material intake to finished goods 2. Technical Garment Construction Expertise Maintain deep understanding of garment construction processes including: Pockets, plackets, zippers, facings, trims, hoods, and insulation handling Order of operations across sewing stations Critical garment quality checkpoints Piece-work production systems Supervisors must be able to demonstrate sewing operations and support operators when needed. 3. Line Balancing & Production Setup Break down garment styles into operational steps Estimate SMV (Standard Minute Value) for production planning Assign operators to appropriate stations Balance production lines to achieve target output levels 4. Training & Workforce Development Train new sewing operators on production operations Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting Coach operators to improve efficiency and consistency Maintain discipline and morale across the production team 5. Output & Quality Control Monitor and manage daily production performance including: Hourly output tracking Identifying and resolving production bottlenecks Ensuring garments meet required quality specifications Reporting defects and implementing corrective actions 6. Factory Performance Monitoring Maintain awareness of key production metrics including: Rework levels Attendance and workforce reliability Line downtime and production interruptions What You Bring Experience 10+ years of experience in garment or textile manufacturing 510 years of hands-on sewing production experience 10+ years in team leadership or factory supervision Experience managing high-volume sewing production teams Technical Expertise Experience with multiple sewing operations including: Single-needle Double-needle Bartack Binding Quilting Seam sealing Experience with outerwear or technical garments (parkas, insulated garments) is highly preferred. Familiarity with production standards used by technical outerwear brands is considered a strong asset.
