Job Description

Overview This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Finance in the fiscal management of Opus Hotel Vancouver, as required by corporate office and the owners. This includes providing timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis to hotel, regional and corporate management, and ensuring proper systems and controls are in place to effectively capture the transactions and safeguard the assets of the hotel. Responsibilities Responsible for assisting the Director of Finance with maintaining the accounting system and internal controls to provide accurate, timely financial statements and to provide effective control over the assets and revenues of the hotel. Responsible for closing procedures at month end, prepare accruals and journal entries, and maintain reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts in established corporate formats and in accordance with accepted accounting principles. Prepares financial statements, and variance analysis from budget. Act as liaison with Auditors, both Internal and External, to collect data and provide assistance as required. Prepares and submits GST, PST, WCB and other returns within the required timeframes. The Senior Accounting Manager will play a key role in facilitating the development of the Accounting team, which includes and is not limited to hiring, training, cross training and performing development reviews. The Senior Accounting Manager is also the Payroll Manager and must ensure effective and efficient adherence to the Company''''s standards as well as Federal and Provincial Statutory Regulations. Payroll duties include and are not limited to overseeing that daily payroll operations run smoothly, balancing gratuities for Bell persons and Banquets Servers in accordance with the Night Audit''''s revenue reports. Ensuring that vacation, sick day entitlements and accruals are in accordance with the company policies. Overseeing AR functions and Income audit The Senior Accounting Manager will support the operating departments to monitor productivity and work closely with department managers to ensure that payroll is completed promptly and thoroughly. Performing related tasks and duties as assigned by the Director of Finance such as assisting with forecasting, budgeting, cash flow, internal control, and completing account analysis. Qualifications Minimum 5 years experience in an accounting role, Hospitality experience is an asset. Payroll processing experience is a strong asset. Post-secondary diploma in Accounting, Business or Finance and/or currently enrolled in or completed CPA program. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and tasks. Able to sets goals and standards that are decisive and achievement oriented while finding solutions that are beneficial to guests, associates and the organization. Must have a high degree of professional integrity and confidentiality, and work in a safe, prudent and organized manner. Ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal correspondence. Ability to analyze and solve problems; establish facts and draw conclusions.
