About the role This is a working manager role. You will lead a small (and growing) IT team, starting with a Tier 1 Support Technician, while staying highly handson with escalations, cloud infrastructure, and process. You''''re not inheriting a mature department you''''re building one. Your direct manager (the CIO) is based in Squamish. While our largest offices are in Abbotsford and NewWest, you may operate in a hybrid capacity elsewhere in BC. You will play a meaningful role in helping establish an internal tech team and operating rhythm centred in the SeatoSky corridor. The Geographic Reality: We are a highly distributed operations company. While our leadership hubs are in the lower Mainland, our physical operations and logistics networks span across southern BC, and Washington. This is not a singlesite IT job. You must design resilient, cloudfirst technology that works across geography and time zones, utilizing zerotouch deployments so our field staff never miss a beat. What You Will Do (The Mission): The Friendly Handover (Priority 1): We are bringing IT inhouse for scale, not because of bad blood. You will execute a collaborative takeover of our Microsoft 365 tenant and Azure Entra ID environment. Our outgoing MSP is fully cooperative, providing fallback redundancy, institutional knowledge, and transition guidance so you aren''''t flying blind. Lead the IT Team: Directly manage the support technician(s) set expectations, coach daily, and develop them over time. Own the support queue: monitor response times, spot bottlenecks, and ensure employees aren''''t left waiting. Distributed Asset Management: Procure and manage a growing fleet of workstations and iPads across North America using modern MDM tools (Intune/Autopilot) so hardware can be dropshipped and automatically provisioned. Build Process: Define and improve how IT works internally: support workflows, documentation standards, escalation paths, and change management. The Tech Stack (What You Will Work With) The NonNegotiable Core: Microsoft 365. You must be an expert in maximizing the native value of Entra ID , Microsoft Defender , and Intune (Autopilot / iOS MDM). The Peripheral Stack (You Choose): We have a dedicated budget allocated for Managed Detection & Response (MDR), EDR, Immutable Backups, Remote Support, and Documentation. You have the autonomy to evaluate and procure the bestinclass tools you trust. Legacy (To be deprecated): Windows Server (OnPremise Active Directory). What You Need to Qualify: 5+ years in IT support or infrastructure roles, with at least 2 years in a team lead or management capacity. The ''''PlayerCoach'''' Mindset: You don''''t manage from a distance. You''''re in the queue when needed, troubleshooting alongside your tech, and handling the hard problems yourself. Operationally Focused: Every decision you make tooling, process, hiring is filtered through ''''does this help the organization operate better?'''' Migration Veteran: Comfortable administering Microsoft 365 environments, including Entra ID and Intune. Experience with Active Directory to Entra ID migrations or tenanttotenant Microsoft migrations is a strong plus, but not required. Were open to partnering with external specialists for portions of this work. The Reality Check: This is handson. You will be in tickets. You will take escalation calls. You will have direct conversations with leadership about priorities and direct coaching conversations with your team.
