Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency - Training Opportunity Salary: CAD $41.42/hr CAD $55.91/hr Eligibility for this postbasic training program is prioritized for applicants with approximately one year of recent acute medical/surgical experience. BCIT Emergency Nursing Specialty Program Online prerequisites: Apr. Aug. 2026 (dates to be confirmed by BCIT). Fulltime training at BCIT and practicum locations: Aug. Dec. 2026 (dates to be confirmed by BCIT). Course dates will be modified based on previously completed courses. VCH will fund only the required courses. Travel to the lower mainland is required during practicums (exact dates TBD). Travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with VCH policy. Applicants must successfully complete the postbasic training education prior to working in the Department. Candidates accepting this training opportunity agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a regular status nurse in the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they are hired for at least 18 months after completing training. If a candidate leaves the area of nursing applicable to the program for less than 18 months, VCH will seek to recover the cost of the program. Provide emergency nursing to patients of all ages presenting with a wide variety of symptoms within an uncontrolled environment and to unique patient populations such as victims of sexual assault. Assess patient needs and prioritize care requirements often with limited information. As a member of the emergency response team, stabilize and resuscitate multitrauma victims, prepare for and respond to disaster situations. Enhance quality of life from the perspective of the patient/family. Consult, confer, and collaborate with other healthcare providers. Demonstrate expertise and leadership in nursing practice. Maintain and advance clinical competence. Participate on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.
