Backed by credentialed and fully insured multidisciplinary response teams, Odyssey administers front-line patient care and programs across a range of events such as marathons, cycling races, obstacle and adventure courses, mass-gathering concerts and festivals, stadium-based events and community-focused celebrations. Additionally, Odyssey has experience supporting established venues such as nightclubs and film & TV sets with medical team coverage on a year-round basis. Odyssey has an established Medical Direction and symptom relief program to support first responders, medics, and advanced medical team practitioners in providing efficient, discreet and exceptional care. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Odyssey Medical is actively seeking an individual to join our Event Safety Officer - Health & Safety and Medical Responde r in Toronto, Ontario, from April to October, with the possibility for extension. The Event Safety Officer - Health and Safety and Medical Responder will be responsible for playing a critical role in ensuring occupational health and safety compliance during the build and strike phases of events. Operating similarly to a Construction Safety Officer (CSO), you will support safe work environments, prevent injuries, and help mitigate liability by ensuring compliance with applicable workplace safety legislation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Health & Safety Oversight: Conduct field level hazard assessments, reviews event-specific safety plans, communicates expectations to contractors, and ensures compliance with provincial safety legislation. Monitor site conditions throughout load-in, load-out and high risk phases to prevent hazards and enforce corrective actions. Safety Protocol Implementation & Site Monitoring: Ensure safe work practices are followed, including PPE use, site delineation, and load-in/ load-out housekeeping. Deliver toolbox talks, safety orientations, and briefings while monitoring for heat or cold stress and providing real-time coaching on safe work procedures. Incident Response & Compliance: Support incident response through first aid, emergency service coordination, and document all incidents and near misses. Assist supervisors during regulatory inspections and ensure compliance with reporting requirements to avoid penalties or orders. Medical Response & Readiness: Provide on-site first aid, ensure medical supplies are stocked and functional, and maintain readiness across all event phases. Support emergency procedures and collaborate with site management when medical incidents occur. Stakeholder Coordination: Maintain strong communication with contractors, event production, site managers, and vendors. Lead safety briefings, support communication on emergency procedures, and ensure all stakeholders understand sitespecific risks. Monitoring, Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Conduct routine inspections, record safety observations, and submit Daily Safety Reports. Postevent, they provide summary reports outlining trends and areas for improvement, contributing to continuous enhancement of event safety practices. Training & OnSite Coaching: Deliver toolbox talks, safety sessions, and targeted coaching to promote awareness of risks such as heat stress, egress pathways, and equipment hazards. Maintain the Health & Safety Information Board according to provincial requirements. Requirements KEY QUALIFICATIONS: 2+ years of experience in event safety, construction safety or occupational health and safety. Strong understanding of OSHA (Ontario) or other provincial workplace safety regulations. Demonstrated experience conducting hazard assessments, inspections and safety coaching. Experience leading toolbox talks, orientations and fieldlevel training. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with contractors and vendors. Experience working in dynamic environments such as events, construction or logistics. Knowledge of work refusal procedures and regulatory inspection protocols (asset). Certifications related to construction or occupational safety (asset). Ability to provide first aid and support emergency response procedures. WORKING CONDITIONS: Location: Work is performed onsite at event venues across Ontario. Some administrative work may be completed remotely or at Odyssey offices. The Event Safety Officer - Health & Safety and Medical Responder will be a primarily fieldbased role working in indoor and outdoor event environments and must be highly adaptable and thrive in a fastpaced environment with evolving priorities. Exposure to noise, moving equipment, changing weather, and dynamic site conditions. Work Hours: Hours vary based on event schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Additional hours may be required during event build, strike or highrisk phases. Flexibility is required to support timesensitive safety or medical needs. Travel: Regular travel to events, venues, and work sites is required. Travel frequency varies depending on assignments and event schedules. Physical Demands and Health & Safety: Frequent standing, walking, climbing and navigating uneven terrain. Occasional lifting, moving or carrying equipment and supplies. Required to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Must follow and model all safety protocols, including PPE use and hazard reporting. Must ensure compliance with all safety legislation and company procedures. Strict adherence to health and safety guidelines is mandatory. Stress and Time Management: Must manage multiple safety responsibilities during fastpaced event operations. Required to stay calm and focused when addressing urgent hazards or incidents. Must balance safety oversight, medical responsibilities and administrative tasks efficiently.
