POSITION IDENTIFICATION Project Manager at Elia Kirby Productions Ltd (EKP Ltd), dba Great Northern Way Scene Shop (GNW). POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for project and client management. ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION Elia Kirby Productions Ltd (EKP Ltd), dba the Great Northern Way Scene Shop (GNW), provides production services and scenic fabrication for cultural and corporate projects. GNW works on the unceded ancestral territories of the xmkym (Musqueam), Swxw7mesh (Squamish), and slilwta/sellwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations. Located at the western edge of the False Creek Flats and within the Arts Factory building, GNW is dedicated to supporting Metro Vancouver's cultural community while providing employment to local artisans and craftspeople. ORGANIZATIONAL STATUS Reports to the CEO & Director of Production. Works in collaboration with heads of departments, lead positions, and the technicaldirection & projectmanagement teams. Oversees the quality and efficiency of work by shop personnel, such as scenic carpenters, scenic painters, and general labourers. WORK PERFORMED Estimates, negotiates, plans, supervises, and ensures the delivery of contracted client projects within agreed upon budgets and schedules. Duties include but are not limited to: Determines the costing of design and/or projects for clients Prepares and sends project estimates and quotes for designs and/or projects to clients and outside organizations as requested Responsible for allocating all resources and informing the finance department of relevant information related to project expenses. Assists Project Leads in analyzing designs and/or projects in preparation for construction to fit within approved budgets and schedules; may be required to prepare drawings for the purposes of construction and/or installation of designs and/or projects Maintains communications of the construction, budget, and schedule with clients, or the client representatives, and between all relevant personnel Researches and identifies required materials related to the manufacturing of specified projects in cooperation with other Project Managers and the finance department Oversees human resources in collaboration with other Project Managers, Project Leads, and other lead staff as required Sources, contracts and liaises with outside contractors and suppliers as required to complete the build and or installation of client designs and/or projects at GNW or outside locations Supervises all production activities in cooperation with Project Leads (Head Carpenters, Head Painter, and Head Fabricator) during the building, installation, and deinstallation of approved and contracted designs and projects Supervises the installation of the completed design and/or project at the offsite location; supervises other personnel when required Prepares, as necessary, final reports and invoices on project, including but not limited to: project personnel, material inventory, and rental equipment used on designs and/or projects Monitors and manages GNW resources relating to the safety and installation equipment at shop and nonshop locations SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under the supervision of the CEO & Director of Production. SUPERVISION GIVEN Overseeing project staff including, but not limited to, scenic carpenters, painters and metalworkers, labourers/grips, and other staff working on project tasks. EXERCISING JUDGEMENT/IMPACT OF DECISIONS Incumbent is responsible for the smooth and safe production practices while supervising company projects at the main as well as offsite locations. The consequences of errors include: EKP Ltd and client projects could run at a serious resource and financial deficit, and the staff and production personnel may be seriously injured in unsafe working conditions, seriously compromising the organizations ability to operate. WORKING CONDITIONS GNW is currently located at 281 Industrial Ave, Vancouver BC. Offsite work mainly takes place at various locations throughout the Metro Vancouver area. Working conditions may include fumes or airborne particles requiring the use of a respirator; working with or around paint/solvents/aerosols (e.g. spray paints); using a motorized company vehicle or a leased or personal vehicle for company business; working in nonweather conditions that may be wet, or humid, in extreme cold or heat; exposure to loud noise levels; and, outdoor weather conditions include direct sunlight, wind, and rain. QUALIFICATIONS Related postsecondary training, and/or a minimum of eight (8) years professional experience in the field of theatre, event, and entertainment production Knowledge of production, safety, and employment standards, of best practices in the arts and entertainment industry, and of procedures relating to those standards and practices Demonstrable success at project delivery in both shortterm and longterm integrated projects Competent with project management components, such as planning, budget and timeline management, scope management, risk management, timely decision making Ability to lead and work effectively in a collaborative environment Effective facilitator with strong interpersonal, decisionmaking, and organizational skills Must be able to perform well under pressure and adapt to a fastchanging environment Good working knowledge of CAD software (such as Vectorworks or Rhino), Adobe Creative Cloud, Google Workplace, email communication, and database software Knowledge of building materials and material procurement is an asset Professional experience as a Technical Director, Scenic Designer, Scenic Painter or Scenic/Construction Carpenter, or Stage Manager is an asset REMUNERATION This is a permanent fulltime position, at 40 hours per week. Regular shop hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, with some evening and weekend work, based on project needs. Starting hourly wage range is $29.00$37.50, plus the opportunity to enroll in our group benefits plan after a successful threemonth probationary period.
