The role supports autistic children and their families and may include services within the Provincial Preschool Autism Service such as Intensive Services, Focused Interventions, Early Start Denver Model, QuickStart Nova Scotia, HSNS Communication Services, and Foundational Education. The position reports to the assigned Manager. Scheduling will be determined upon hire. Requirements Master's Degree in SpeechLanguage Pathology Nova Scotia College of Audiologists & SpeechLanguage Pathologists licensure or eligibility for licensure Effective communication skills, including proficiency in written and spoken English (additional documentation required if English is not first language) Flexibility to provide evening/weekend services Flexibility to travel for continuing education, events, and meetings Current immunization and/or booster documentation at the end of the probationary period Recent experience with preschool speech and language assessment and treatment Familiarity with a variety of pediatric service delivery options Knowledge of best practices in assessment and early intervention for young children with developmental disabilities, especially autism Demonstrated commitment to familycentered care Flexibility to support outreach/parachute services Valid Nova Scotia drivers license and reliable vehicle access Assets Two years of experience with children with autism Two years of clinical experience in the last five years with alternative and augmentative communication systems Experience with offsite/homebased delivery models Experience working with interprofessional teams and/or supportive personnel Telepractice service delivery experience Caregiver training and/or coaching experience Training in Pivotal Response Treatment and Picture Exchange Communication System Lived experience with a communication difference Ability to start immediately All offers of employment will be conditional upon results of a criminal records check/vulnerable sector search and child abuse registry search satisfactory to the employer.
