Job Description

Our client is a leading third-party logistics (3PL) provider delivering end-to-end supply chain solutions for major brands across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The Site Engineer, reporting to the General Manager, is responsible for managing facility equipment and automation systems, including AutoStore robotics and material handling equipment. This role serves as the on-site technical expert for warehouse automation systems and works closely with operations, maintenance teams, and third-party vendors to ensure equipment performance, process optimization, and operational efficiency. Responsibilities Serve as the site technical expert for warehouse systems including Blue Yonder WMS and Exacta AutoStore automation systems. Manage all onsite material handling equipment and ensure preventative and corrective maintenance is completed on schedule. Act as the primary liaison with third-party vendors responsible for equipment service and maintenance. Troubleshoot mechanical and system issues and resolve smaller issues internally where possible. Monitor performance and utilization of automation and material handling equipment, identifying opportunities for improvement. Work with maintenance teams to ensure AutoStore systems and conveyor infrastructure operate at optimal performance. Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) in collaboration with operations leadership. Train operational teams on AutoStore functionality and act as a Train-the-Trainer resource within the organization. Manage and maintain spare parts inventory to support operational uptime. Monitor housekeeping and maintenance standards within the AutoStore and equipment areas. Track and analyze operational KPIs, preparing reports on equipment performance and departmental productivity. Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to improve warehouse processes, workflow, and system utilization. Develop labour standards through analysis of workflows, production methods, and staffing models. Support the development of best practices for facility systems and equipment usage across the operation. Maintain strong relationships with customers and communicate operational or technical updates when required. Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment. Perform additional duties as assigned. Experience 25 years of experience in a 3PL, logistics, supply chain, or production environment. Experience working with warehouse automation systems and material handling equipment. Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude. Experience with warehouse engineering concepts including slotting, labour standards, time studies, DC layout optimization, and KPI tracking. Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced operational environment. Highly organized with strong time management and multitasking abilities. Experience with warehouse systems and tools such as MS Office, Smartsheet, Visio, AutoCAD, Blue Yonder, Exacta, or AutoStore is an asset. Experience in high-volume or omnichannel warehouse environments is preferred. Education Post-secondary education in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related technical field preferred.
