Overview The SLRD is seeking a collaborative leader for the role of Fire Chief for the Howe Sound East Fire Service. Established in 1904, the Britannia Beach Volunteer Fire Department became a Regional Fire Service in 2006 under the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD)s Howe Sound East regional fire service. Serving the communities of Britannia Beach, Furry Creek and Porteau Cove, the Department has grown to a compliment of 45 Volunteer Firefighters, operates at an Interior Attack declared service level, and will see the future establishment of a second firehall in Furry Creek. Responsibilities The Fire Chief will work in a combination of office, field, training and emergency response environments in administrative and hands-on capacities; and working with the Fire Services Manager, this position will develop strategic direction for two fire halls as they evolve to meet the needs of the growing community. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of recent progressive leadership experience in fire services, along with post secondary education in Fire Service Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Emergency Management, or a related field.
