Responsibilities Administer medications Apply aseptic techniques including sterile dressing Conduct specimen collection Ensure infection control Monitor nutritional intake Observe and record medication''s therapeutic and side effects Take vital signs Monitor established respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families Provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures Monitor patients'' progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and consult with appropriate members of healthcare team Qualifications Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years Experience: 1 to less than 7 months Eligibility for licensure as a practical nurse by the province/territory of work Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate Work setting Nursing home/home for the aged Retirement home Work conditions Hours: 30 to 40 hours per week Work environment: Fast-paced, under pressure, repetitive tasks Manual dexterity Attention to detail Ability to distinguish between colours Combination of sitting, standing, walking Standing for extended periods Security and safety Tuberculosis test Vulnerable sector check Transportation/travel information Own transportation Personal suitability Dependability Excellent oral communication Excellent written communication Judgement Organized Team player Values and ethics Screening questions Are you authorized to work in Canada?
