AOI Programmer, Afternoon Shift Guelph, ON Canada Job Overview We are seeking a skilled AOI Programmer to join our Afternoon Shift manufacturing team, specializing in surface mount technology and quality assurance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing automated optical inspection (AOI) systems to ensure the highest standards of PCB quality. This role requires a strong understanding of schematics, PCB assembly, and precision measurement tools, with an emphasis on quality control and process improvement. The AOI Programmer will play a critical role in enhancing manufacturing efficiency through test automation and data collection, ensuring products meet IPC 610 standards and other quality specifications. Responsibilities - Develop and program AOI systems for PCB inspection using industry-standard software and tools. - Perform quality inspections utilizing automated optical inspection equipment, hand tools, calipers and micrometers. - Analyze inspection data to identify defects or process deviations, implementing debugging procedures as needed. - Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize testing procedures, improve accuracy, and reduce false positives. - Maintain detailed schematics and documentation related to AOI programming and system configurations. - Conduct regular calibration of precision measuring instruments and ensure compliance with IPC 610 standards. - Support quality assurance initiatives by performing quality control checks and contributing to continuous process improvements. - Assist in troubleshooting mechanical issues related to AOI equipment or PCB assembly processes. - Collect and analyze data to monitor process performance metrics and recommend corrective actions. Essential Skills and Qualifications - Proven experience with surface mount technology (SMT) assembly processes. - MUST be available to work a straight afternoon shift - Strong knowledge of PCB manufacturing, schematic reading, and mechanical components. - Proficiency in programming AOI systems and familiarity with test automation techniques. - Experience with quality inspection standards such as IPC 610 and quality assurance protocols. - Skilled in using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, micrometers, and ohmmeters. - Ability to interpret schematics, technical drawings, and assembly instructions. - Excellent analysis skills for defect detection, debugging, and process optimization. - Familiarity with automated optical inspection (AOI) equipment and manual inspection tools such as hand tools. - Knowledge of soldering techniques and the use of hand tools for assembly tasks is a plus. - Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control in a manufacturing environment.
