Structured as a matrix organization of six geographical regions and ten platforms, Louis Dreyfus Company is active in over 100 countries and employs approximately 18,000 people globally.Job DescriptionThe SHE Specialist is responsible for assisting the Safety, Health & Environmental Manager ('SHE') for the Yorkton complex with technical support, oversight, and providing process safety management support. Also responsible for supporting the informational needs of the complex. This position works with minimal direct supervision, must be self-motivated and detail oriented.Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:Assist in the development, implementation and review of Safety, Health and Environmental policies, programs and procedures for the Yorkton complex to achieve and maintain compliance with all applicable SHE laws and regulations at the federal/provincial and local levels.Assist with the development and implementation of strategies to achieve and exceed company goals and expectations for injury reduction and lost prevention.Develop processes to maintain and conduct SHE training, inspections, and audits.Respond to Safety, Health and Environmental questions, issues, and problems from the site.Provide Safety, Health and Environmental regulatory and technical support to the site.Perform technical reviews and audits of Safety, Health and Environmental regulatory submissions, testing and monitoring activities, and written programs.Investigate Safety, Health and Environmental incidents.Additional Responsibilities:Create Safety, Health and Environmental reports, studies, and documents for management as required.Develop and provide training to locations.Provide mentoring to managers, supervisors, and employees.Other duties and special projects as assigned.QualificationsKnowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)Combination of 3-5 years of direct experience in safety, health and environmental compliance is required, as well as experience in Safety Management system(s).Previous work experience in an industrial or chemical processing site is preferred.Post-secondary or bachelors degree preferred.Excellent working knowledge of the regulatory requirements applicable to the facility.Collaborative team spiritPassionate about the agricultural industry.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Proficientwith spreadsheets and word processing software (e.g., MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint).Able to work in a setting that may contain adverse weather conditions and environmental conditions typical of an agricultural commodity and chemical processing plant.Able to climb stairs, use ladders, work at heights, enter confined spaces, withstand extended periods of walking and standing, crawling, and bending.
