Overview Reference #: 8320 Location: Winnipeg, London, Regina OR Toronto (Hybrid 3 days/week in office) Type: Sub-contract Donna Cona Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Software Developer, for one of our key government clients. Responsibilities - Designing, developing and testing software to specifications; - Supporting production (includes 247 on call support); - Providing consultation with the Systems Architect and Business Systems Analyst; - Participating in project planning and assessments; - Delivering code reviews and providing feedback relative to best practices; and - Coaching and mentoring staff. Qualifications - A degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with a minimum of 8+ years of experience in a software developer role; - Experience as a software developer in a mainframe environment; - Mainframe Skills; - Two or more of the following application development environment languages and tools: PL/1, JCL, CICS, SQL, DB2, CA7, IMSDC/DB; - Exposure to ChangeMan and file transfer tools would also be an asset; - IT experience and the ability to understand and effectively work with legacy technologies and contribute as legacy applications evolve and are either decommitted or migrated to new platforms; - Proven leadership and communication skills with a commitment to customer service; - Demonstrate initiative with the ability to easily adapt to change; - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; - Excellent organizational skills combined with a quality focus and attention to detail; - Demonstrated ability to work both individually and as part of a team, plan and organize your own work, communicate effectively in writing and verbally in person or remotely; - Excellent understanding of software design, methodologies and documentation standards; - Knowledge of IT industry current trends; - Experience in analysis, design, development, testing, documentation, implementation and 24/7 production support would be an asset; - Knowledge of Insurance is an asset; - Knowledge of IMS/DB2 and PL1 would be useful; and - Experience with Legacy applications is helpful.
