The Director of County Services provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and program management for a diverse portfolio of municipal services. Community and Recreational Services Economic Development Emergency Services Emergency Management Enforcement Services Planning & Development Legislative Services Key Responsibilities - Lead, manage, and monitor the County Services department. - Develop and implement operational and capital budgets. - Ability to encourage teamwork, coach, and mentor staff. - Facilitate communication between internal departments, external agencies, associations, and other operational areas. - Develop, implement, and interpret policies, bylaws, and legislation for each service department. - Ensure all inquiries and complaints are handled quickly and courteously. - Responsible for county communications (advertising, website, and social media accounts). - Act as Deputy Director of Emergency Management. - Act as Access to Information Coordinator. - Ability to demonstrate strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. - Ability to work cooperatively with senior leadership team and support other departments. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Knowledge and experience of municipal operations. Required Qualifications - Professional designations and/or equivalent experience in one or more areas of the County Services Department. Certified Local Government Managers (CLGM) is preferred. - Or a post-secondary degree in a discipline related to municipal service delivery and a minimum of 5 years municipal senior management experience. - ICS-300 certification is preferred. - A broad range of municipal experience in a multi-faceted and challenging fast-paced department. - Comprehensive knowledge of the Municipal Government Act (MGA) and other legislative and procedural requirements. - Advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Office products. - Successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Records Check. Thorhild County offers a comprehensive benefit program. Salary for this position will be determined by the candidates education and experience. Salary range is $125,078-$159,392.
