POSITION SUMMARY Join our dynamic team at Winnipeg Economic Development & Tourism as a Business Development Manager, focused on driving economic growth in the transportation & distribution, agribusiness, and life sciences sectors. Winnipeg is a national hub for transportation and distribution, strategically located at the geographic center of North America. Our city is a key player in global trade, powered by a robust multimodal infrastructure that includes an international airport, major rail lines, and an inland port, CentrePort Canada. Reporting to the Director of Business Development, you will be a key player in supporting job creation, investment, and business growth within these sectors. You will be responsible for achieving set KPIs and representing Winnipeg as a proud ambassador on the domestic, national, and global stage. The ideal candidate should possess a strong ability to engage in meaningful discussions and comprehend the operational growth and challenges faced by start-ups, scale-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and large firms. RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS Be a client-focused ambassador for Winnipeg and Winnipeg Economic Development & Tourism. Identify and pursue high-potential business and investment opportunities across these industries. Provide tailored client services to meet their unique needs and challenges. Utilize your industry knowledge to connect clients to resources and opportunities. Assist existing companies in expanding and attracting new businesses to Winnipeg. Manage leads and opportunities effectively using our CRM. Build and nurture key relationships with clients, investors, and stakeholders. Collaborate with government partners to advance strategic objectives. Stay informed about industry trends, risks, and opportunities. Deliver exceptional client service to differentiate Winnipeg. Lead sector teams and contribute to strategic planning. Mentor and guide junior staff to foster growth and success. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Energetic and passionate about driving Winnipeg''s economic growth. Proactive self-starter with a track record in sales and business development. Strong judgment and creative problem-solving abilities. Excellent networking and relationship-building skills. Adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic environment. Business acumen with a client-focused mindset. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. Political awareness and ability to navigate government processes. Willingness to travel as needed. Valid drivers license and access to a vehicle. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Bachelors or masters degree in a business-related field. Diploma and ample sales experience also considered. Professional experience of 5-7 years, including business development or sales.
