Role: As part of the Respite, Recreation and Leisure (2RL) Team, the Youth Program Direct Support Worker, under the supervision of the 2RL Program Coordinator is responsible for the ongoing facilitation of youth programs including Youth Hub, Pre-Teen Hangout and Teen Respite Days. Qualifications: Secondary school diploma OR some secondary school with related experience Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is an asset Demonstrated experience working with people with disabilities Excellent oral and written communication skills Must be reliable and dependable, punctual and committed Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment Valid drivers license and asset, reliable access to a vehicle and willingness to travel throughout Waterloo Region and beyond Demonstrate threshold and core competencies outlined for Direct Support People Core Competencies: Display Evolving level competency which is defined as intentional growth of oneself and valuing others perspectives. They exhibit the competency consistently in more than one context and promote positive opportunities for change beyond themselves.
