Overview THE OPPORTUNITYWe are seeking an experienced Manager, Architectural Project Design to lead and mentor a talented team of Senior Project Coordinators and Project Design Supervisors across two specialty divisions focused on custom ceiling and wall products. This is a pivotal leadership role at the intersection of technical excellence and team management responsible for scheduling, resource allocation, shop drawing oversight, and continuous process improvement in a fast-paced, project-driven environment. Responsibilities Lead, coach, and mentor a multidisciplinary design team of 89 direct reports. Assign and schedule projects based on team capacity, skills, and project priorities. Conduct performance reviews and support ongoing professional development. Drive cross-training initiatives to maximize team flexibility and resilience. Manage relationships with external freelancers, including invoicing and billing oversight. Project Design Oversight Oversee the creation and validation of detailed shop drawings using AutoCAD. Collaborate with internal and external clients to address design and technical inquiries. Provide regular project status reviews to Project Managers and Senior Management. Develop and implement CAD procedures and Standard Operating Procedures. Support process improvement initiatives to improve quality, efficiency, and throughput. Travel Quarterly travel to North American locations required (less than 10% of time). Qualifications Education Experience - Bachelors degree in Architectural Design, Engineering, or equivalent (required). 15+ years of industry experience in commercial construction or a related field. 15+ years of leadership experience managing cross-functional design teams. Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (required). Knowledge of SolidWorks (asset) and ERP systems experience (asset). Knowledge of custom ceiling design fiberglass, metal, and/or wood is a strong asset. Leadership Soft Skills: Proven ability to lead meetings, resolve conflicts, and foster a collaborative environment. Excellent communication, organizational, and mentoring skills. Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects and stakeholders.
