Overview Medical Science Liaison - Western Canada The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will be responsible for providing non-promotional scientific, educational, and research support for the Indivior addiction treatment portfolio, specifically involving buprenorphine, in the respective territory. The MSL position is a field-based member of the Medical Affairs team. The MSL should be highly trained in a health care field and well-versed in clinical science to deliver cutting edge data and technical/practical education to Thought Leaders and Health Care Professionals (HCP) practicing Addiction Medicine. Preferred primary location for this role is Vancouver, BC or Calgary, Alberta. The MSL will interact with Addiction Thought Leaders in the region including therapeutic area HCPs affiliated with key medical centers and addictions treatment programs. The MSL will respond to medical questions regarding Indivior products as appropriate. The MSL, upon request of management, may be involved in presentations to managed care organizations, formulary decision makers and regional medical advisory boards. The MSL will serve as a bridge between regional and national HCPs and Indivior Medical Affairs colleagues and will provide customer insights that facilitate the development of brand medical strategies as appropriate. The MSL will support Indivior sponsored research and investigator initiated trial (IIT) activities in the region, as determined by the Medical Affairs leadership and in accordance with policy. Essential Functions Develop and maintain scientific relationships with external experts to gather insights on the treatment of Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and on the needs and treatment patterns of addiction health care providers. Increase Indiviors visibility among leaders in the therapeutic field of Substance Use Disorders. Respond appropriately with the most accurate data to unsolicited questions and requests posed by physicians for compounds in development and approved products/brands in accordance with the MSLs guidelines. Engage physicians participating in clinical studies with research discussions; identify potential new clinical sites and principal investigators as requested; collaborate with clinical team and CRA''''s to coordinate educational and research support for sites/investigators participating in Indiviors clinical trials. Provide medical support to internal teams including other field medical (MSTAs), Managed Market account managers, and Commercial as necessary. Maintain clinical expertise through ongoing education including attendance at relevant symposiums, scientific workshops, and review of key journals; participation in required internal training, presentations and journal clubs. Adhere to regulatory and compliance guidelines and company policies in all aspects of scientific dissemination of information including responses to unsolicited requests for medical information; maintain appropriate communication with Medical, Regulatory, and Legal personnel within the company to ensure appropriate timelines and procedures are met. Consistently demonstrate a positive, collaborative attitude that exemplifies ownership of business, partnership with key opinion leaders, teamwork with peers, and respect of supervisors, peers, and customers. Develop and prioritize solutions to problems, understand relationship between actions and results, and be able to understand and communicate the needs of the healthcare community. Minimum Qualifications Education: Doctoral degree MD, PhD, or PharmD Field of Study: Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing or biological/health science. Experience 5 years minimum as pharmaceutical Medical Science Liaison or other relevant pharmaceutical field medical role in addiction medicine or neuroscience; OR 5 years minimum as MSL in other therapeutic areas; OR Clinicians with 5+ years addiction medicine practice Demonstrated examples of working in the unapproved space with compounds in development and with clinical research sites and primary investigators highly preferred. Computer Skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and associated hardware is required Travel Must be able to travel by air and vehicle (valid US drivers license and clean driving record) up to 60% of time. Must be able and willing to work occasional weekends and evenings. Competencies/Conduct Leadership and teamwork with MSL peers. Demonstrated a strong cross-functional team player and effectively interfacing with other internal departments, including Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Medical Information, Marketing, Sales, etc. Excellent oral presentation and written communication skills. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills: ability to understand, prioritize, and respond to multiple external and internal customers demands and to manage conflict constructively. Ability to multitask in a fast pace entrepreneurial environment. Displaying flexibility to rapidly changing schedules and travel. Feeling comfortable and competent to self-initiate initiatives in a compliant fashion.
