Responsibilities People Management: The Controller is responsible for managing the finance team, hiring, training, and developing a team that operates efficiently in a productive environment; implement succession planning. Compliance: Develop and maintain accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements and effective internal controls. GAAP and financial reporting: Act as an authority on GAAP-related accounting matters for Canadian entities, including revenue recognition and cost accounting; identify differences between Canadian GAAP and US GAAP and collaborate with corporate accounting to manage them in statutory and reporting ledgers; approve journal entries as requested by Arconic/BCS policies; complete monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and reviews; ensure testing of internal controls per policy. Tax and audits: Oversee the preparation, timeliness and accuracy of tax information (Property Tax, VAT, and other taxes in Canada); coordinate with internal/external auditors on tax, financial, operational and internal control audits; liaise with corporate treasury to implement banking processes as necessary. Pension and benefits: Work with Arconic Corporation Benefits Accounting on pension schemes and actuary assessments, including the accounting impact; administer all pension plans (Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution) and coordinate with external auditors. Closing: Ensure the integrity of the closing process (1-day close) for Oracle and JDE systems and lead/optimize the month-end closing process; collaborate with Arconic financial shared services. Business partnering: Serve as a business partner to the Plant Lead Team; lead monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets and forecasts (income statement, balance sheet, cash flows); investigate variances and provide bridges; lead daily P&L analysis; deploy unit cost analysis to analyze variances and identify cost opportunities; collaborate with procurement on vendor spending and cost opportunities; provide analytical information to support business decisions (Product Margin Analysis, Working Capital Assessment, Risks & Opportunities); lead Business Case development for CapEx projects. Qualifications You have: (required) Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting from an accredited institution. Minimum of 10 years'''' experience in finance or accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment. Minimum 5 years in a Controller role, preferably within a manufacturing environment. Preferred Qualifications Communications skills written and verbal/phone. Strong leadership, analytical, and human relations skills. Organizational/time management skills. Problem solving to root cause and understanding of lean management principles. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability. Self-starter with the eagerness to seek opportunities and stretch capabilities. Excellent Microsoft skills (Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and enhanced knowledge of Excel, Hyperion or other data reporting tools. Oracle/JDE experience preferred. Experience of standard costing within a manufacturing environment is a plus. Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian and US GAAP. History of forecasting, variance analysis and financial reporting.
