Overview We have an exciting position in our program for a Registered Nurse (RN). The RN works to provide Hemodialysis treatment to patients in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team. The RN delivers comprehensive patient and family centered care to acute and chronic renal patients. The RN practices within the philosophy and guidelines of the Alberta Kidney Care - North Program (AKC - North) to provide leadership, critical thinking, clinical judgment, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for the purpose of promoting, maintaining, or restoring health, preventing illness, injury, and disability to the renal patient. The RN practices nursing care according to Hemodialysis Nursing Specialty Scope of Practice, regulating body, clinical policies and nursing standards. The RN demonstrates a professional demeanor, pursues regular professional development opportunities and maintains professional designation. The RN assumes unit leadership and charge responsibilities to support all levels of the multidisciplinary team as per Unit Manager Direction.This position is based in the West Edmonton Kidney Care Hemodialysis Unit. Description As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. Additional Required Qualifications: Must have current hemodialysis training. Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making abilities. Must be able to provide direction to other health care workers. Basic computer skills required. Ability to work independently and in conjunction with other team members. Demonstrate ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workload. Demonstrate initiative, accountability, interpersonal and communication skills. Successful candidate must be able to lift 40lbs (18kg). Preferred Qualifications: Minimum 1-2 years recent Med-Surgical Nursing experience preferred. Nephrology nursing experience preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of case management. Preference will be given to those with current hemodialysis experience and current charge nurse experience within a hemodialysis unit.
