Job Description The Inpatient Medicine & ICU Program at THP consists of more than 350 beds across CVH & MH and is supported by large interprofessional teams that care for complex medicine patients within the Mississauga Halton LHIN. Our in-patient units provide high-quality care while addressing the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients. Reporting to a Clinical Manager, the ideal candidate will focus on providing excellent patient-centered care in a dynamic environment with opportunities to deliver care with compassion, excellence and courage. Required Qualifications Graduate of a recognized college or school of nursing or equivalent (e.g., certificate RPN with added courses in medication administration, phlebotomy, and health assessment) Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or eligible to register in good standing in the Temporary Class or General Class with the CNO Able to function to the full scope of practice as per CNO Current Basic Life Support certification If working in an area with telemetry, obtain formal certification within six months of hire Medication Administration Certificate and recent experience with medication administration Knowledge and ability to care for acute patients with IV therapy, medication administration, patient-controlled analgesia, Enteral feeds, TPN, transfusion of blood products, central venous access devices, blood glucose monitoring, naso-gastric tubes, wound and skin care, infection control practices, and related nursing duties Computer skills including typing, email, and Microsoft Word A positive work and attendance record Preferred Qualifications Minimum of 2 years acute care medical/surgical experience Physical assessment course Experience with acute care medicine populations requiring telemetry, including respirology, nephrology, cardiology, and geriatric patients Experience providing education to patients and families Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Patient- and family-centered care values Ongoing professional development Experience with Meditech and/or Sunrise Clinical Manager systems Job Responsibilities Provide nursing care for patients within an interprofessional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching and education Teach and coach patients and families Commit to a healthy, safe and respectful workplace Practice in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policies and procedures; professional regulatory standards; and best practices in nursing Maintain professional competence through regular professional development and annual training/education How to pursue this opportunity: Please visit our website: Note: Internal candidates who have been in their current role for at least six months are encouraged to apply.
