Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications with a range of $65,000 to $85,000. Responsibilities Conduct independent research under the purview of Professor Michael Gerickes research program. Engage in research related to the MOLLER experiment, a large-scale particle physics project with international collaboration. The University of Manitoba SAP group has received about CAD 10 M in funding. Lead R&D and construction of a large set of particle detectors; oversee installation in the experiment and operation. Mechanical and electronic design, in-house construction and assembly of components, and extensive testing of production detector modules. Software and firmware development for reading detector data, post-processing, and data analysis. Oversee the technical design and construction process and provide expert input and guidance for all development stages. About the department The Department of Physics & Astronomy has a strong history of integrated teaching and research in theoretical, computational, and experimental quantum physics. It supports three major research groupings and supervisors about 90 graduate students. The department participates in numerous national and international collaborations and large-scale facilities. Qualifications Ph.D. in Engineering or Physics. Minimum of 2 years developing Cherenkov and HVMAPS detector components. Experience in CAD design, electronics design, FPGA programming, high-speed data processing hardware setup, mechanical assembly, software development, and data analysis. Preferred: supervisory experience, including supervising students and some technicians.
