The Asset & Technology (A&T) Intern will play an important role in supporting the Fleet Engineering Department within Seaspan Ship Management Ltd. This internship offers hands-on exposure to real-world engineering and data-driven projects that contribute directly to the enhancement, optimization, and regulatory compliance of Seaspans fleet. The successful candidate will be involved in research and engineering assessment, vessel modification program, and the management of technical data that support Seaspans decarbonization and efficiency initiatives. As part of a global maritime team, the intern will gain valuable insights into fleet upgrade strategies, project management methodologies, and the integration of vessel information systems. This role provides an excellent opportunity for an aspiring marine or mechanical engineer to build technical expertise and contribute to meaningful transformation within the maritime industry. Responsibilities Support the Asset Development program addressing the research and engineering of potential upgrades meant to enable various ships classestobecompliant with future decarbonization regulations and/or to increase the efficiency of cargo loadability Support the Asset Development execution program addressing the engineering of agreed upgrades with company customers Support the repository function of the asset development plans Support the migration of modified vessels attributes into the Corporate Data Dashboard Support basic data analysis and identify patterns or anomalies in vessel operating/performance data to help the team prioritize upgrade opportunities with AI-based tools Contribute to the fleet Asset Development Plan by supporting search and engineering efforts in capturing and investigating the most feasible solutions to upgrade Seaspans fleet, including, but not limited to: Supporting the collection of Baseline data, single source of truth repository in Fleet Engineering Supporting the function of collating the information and reporting to stakeholders in various formats Contribute to the Project Management Methodology usage by supporting the verification of modified drawings for their storage and upload and distribution to vessels for their final drawings set update Contribute to the Project Management Methodology implementation by providing input into the Vessel Information System linked to Corporate Data Dashboard Requirements Bachelors degree in marine engineering or Naval Architecture Background in maritime or other engineering Technology enthusiast who can source innovative technology and support the engineering function of it Intermediate/high skill level towards mathematical problem solving Intermediate/advanced Excel skills which could support the projections development Intermediate/advanced AutoCAD skills which could support the engineering drawings issuance Good understanding of Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Word, and Excel) Good verbal and written communication skills Ability to prioritize and perform multi-tasking Able to work with energy, showing initiative, resourcefulness and care for detail, neatness, diligence, in a fast-paced environment Compensation This is a 4-month temporary full-time role. Seaspans compensation is based on our pay-for-performance philosophy that rewards team members who deliver on and demonstrate our high-performance culture. The compensation range for this position is $21-$23/hr. The exact base pay offered will be commensurate with the incumbents experience, job-related skills and knowledge, and internal pay equity.
