Director, Indigenous Peoples Centre (IPC) Brandon University has an exciting opportunity to join our team as the Director, Indigenous Peoples Centre (IPC), providing leadership and supporting innovative programs and services to recruit and retain First Nations, Mtis, and Inuit learners. Working closely with senior administration, faculty, students, staff, Knowledge Keepers and Indigenous Community members, the Director will strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment. The Director will encourage effective and inclusive consideration of Indigenous student perspectives across campus. Duties and Responsibilities The preferred candidate will develop initiatives that recognise the cultural integrity of Indigenous students and address barriers to success and will collaborate with the Director of Recruitment and Retention on recruitment and retention initiatives that recognise the distinct needs of Indigenous students. The Director will direct and execute the strategic plan and manage the budget for the Indigenous Peoples Centre. They will coordinate the engagement of Knowledge Keepers, providing support and referrals as required, and supervise IPC staff. In addition, the Director will serve as the Universitys administrative representative on Indigenous student matters. Qualifications The preferred candidate will hold a Masters degree or equivalent in a related field and possess a minimum of three (3) years experience working in a postsecondary environment. Experience working in progressive leadership roles in either recruitment and/or student services with a focus on Indigenous student success would be an asset, as is experience with budget management. The ideal candidate will have proven leadership and supervisory experience, the ability to build relationships across diverse campus stakeholders, and a commitment to creating inclusive, culturally relevant programming that advances Indigenous student recruitment, retention, and overall wellbeing. Knowledge of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit cultures, histories, and contemporary issues is an asset. This position has been defined to have an Indigenous focus and preference will be given to appropriately qualified candidates of First Nations, Mtis, Inuit, or NonStatus identity and/or citizenship.
