The Biologics Coordinator will use their pharmacovigilance skills to support rheumatology patients starting biologic response modifier medications. This includes applying specialized knowledge and expertise to facilitate the effective management of clinical activities, monitoring of adverse events, timely attention to patients communication regarding treatment and coordination of patient care. The biologics coordinator will serve as the patients key contact entering a patient support program, providing education, pre-biologic screening, up to date vaccination advice and navigation to ensure continuity of care. The primary purpose is to ensure safe, timely and patient centered care for those enrolling within a biologics program at MSH. The priorities include patient access to resources and services, improve continuity and integration of care from entry and assessment phase to treatment phase throughout their care continuum. The Biologics Coordinator will maintain an up to date database in compliance with all PHIPAA rules and Sinai Health policies. The successful applicant will work with physicians, outpatient pharmacies, and other clinicians to coordinate the care plan, ensuring effective patient movement, to proactively identify issues to be addressed in preparation for this patient population and to ensure that patient is connected to services as required. About this team The Rebecca MacDonald Centre for Arthritis and Autoimmune Disease at MSH integrates clinical care, research and education for rheumatic and autoimmune diseases. Our rheumatology program is one of the largest of its kind in North America, and our experts play an active role in training physicians from around the world. In this role you will: Support and maintain the philosophy, goals, objectives and standards of organization Provide patient education to rheumatology patients who will be starting a biologic Ensure pre-biologic screening and required vaccinations are completed Help patients navigate insurance options and patient compassionate programs Care Coordination between patient, physician and pharmacy Participate in quality and safety initiatives Facilitate the review and development of relevant clinical guidelines, policies and procedures Ensure ongoing preparation, validation and evaluation of statistical reports Ensure a current, complete and accurate database of all patients enrolled within the biologics program, for internal and external reporting Perform other position related duties as required Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required Job Requirements Mandatory Graduate of a CNO-approved bachelors degree in nursing program, or equivalent combined education and experience Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario Preferred Graduate of a CNO-approved master's degree in nursing program, or equivalent combined education and experience Skills and Knowledge Demonstrated competence with clinical/system computer applications (i.e. electronic medical records) Demonstrated knowledge of patient and family centered care Knowledge of biologic medications and pharmacovigilance role is a strong advantage Effective verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and customer services skills Excellent organization and time management skills Excellent decision making, problem recognition, problem solving skills, negotiation and conflict resolution skills Commitment to collaborative practice Ability to work effectively and independently under stressful conditions Ability to utilize information technology Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history If this sounds like you and you feel ready to build your career within health care, apply now and let us know why youd be a great addition to our team.
