Reporting to the Senior Director, Power Production, you will have primary responsibility to develop and implement business plans to efficiently manage the Point Tupper Generating Station and the Port Hawkesbury Biomass Plant while supporting overall corporate objectives. Key Responsibilities Implement processes that meet safety, environmental, NSPI Code of Conduct, financial commitments, and employee development responsibilities. Cultivate a high-performance culture by empowering and developing team members to achieve Nova Scotia Powers strategic objectives. Align individual, team, and plant goals with corporate goals. Accountable for ISO 14001 equivalent environmental performance processes and initiatives. Demonstrate personal commitment to the Capabilities Development Process. Establish and maintain effective safety programs to ensure an injuryfree workplace. Direct and coordinate the onsite workforce in daytoday operations and maintenance to meet goals and schedules, including routine, unscheduled maintenance, emergency repairs, and retrofits. Develop and execute annual budgets and business plans. Assist staff in achieving plant performance targets: safety, environmental compliance, high unit performance, and low unit production cost. Monitor plant performance and investigate/correct abnormal conditions. Implement and administer personnel management programs: staffing, succession planning, performance evaluation, salary review, training, and development. Maintain discipline, morale, and employee relations. Maintain positive relations and communications with civic & community groups, customers, and government. Administer the Shared Services contract with Port Hawkesbury Paper and manage that key business relationship. Key Skills & Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Engineering, 1st Class Power Engineer certification, or Engineering Technology Diploma required. 10+ years of progressive management experience leading teams in a production environment. Maintenance journeyman with leadership experience may be considered. Relevant experience in power generation, heavy industry, or manufacturing. Knowledge of predictive maintenance, multiskilled workforce, energy efficiency, cost management, capital planning, and emission technologies is an asset. Proficiency in risk management and systematic analysis of complex decisions. Proven record of people management: employee development, succession planning, performance management, recognition. Demonstrated ability to implement business plans and lead change management. Passion for safety; focus on environment, customer service, HR, employee development, and community relations.
