About the Role The Category Manager is responsible for the strategic management and performance of assigned product categories across the convenience retail portfolio. This role drives category growth by optimizing assortment, pricing, promotions, and vendor partnerships to maximize sales, margins, and overall category profitability. Using marketplace data, consumer insights, and industry trends, the Category Manager develops and executes category strategies that enhance the customer experience while delivering sustainable non-fuel revenue growth. This role requires strong cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Marketing, and Vendors to ensure successful execution of programs across all retail locations. Key Responsibilities Category Strategy and Performance Develop and execute category strategies to drive sales growth, margin improvement, and market competitiveness Analyze sales data, market trends, and consumer insights to identify opportunities for category optimization Manage product assortment, pricing, and promotional activities to maximize category performance and profitability Monitor category KPIs and adjust strategies to meet financial and operational objectives Vendor Management Identify and select vendor partners that support category growth and customer needs Lead vendor negotiations including pricing, promotions, rebates, and contract terms Build strong vendor relationships while ensuring service levels, cost controls, and risk mitigation Collaborate with vendors to develop joint business plans and promotional initiatives Merchandising, Planograms and Store Layout Develop and maintain category planograms and merchandising standards to ensure consistency across the store network Optimize shelf space, product placement, and assortment to enhance customer experience and maximize sales productivity Work with Operations to support the successful implementation of merchandising programs at store level Promotional Planning Develop and manage the annual promotional calendar in collaboration with suppliers and internal teams Evaluate promotional effectiveness and adjust strategies to improve return on investment and customer engagement Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with Operations to support program rollouts, planogram execution, and in-store initiatives Work with internal stakeholders to develop programs that drive traffic, increase basket size, and grow non-fuel revenue Systems and Data Management Maintain and manage the pricebook and ensure product, pricing, and promotional data are accurate and up to date Respond to operational inquiries and support stores with product and category-related issues Qualifications and Experience 3+ years of Category Management experience, preferably within Gas & Convenience Retail, Grocery, or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Proven track record of driving category growth, vendor negotiations, and margin improvement Strong analytical skills with experience using sales data, market insights, and forecasting tools to support decision-making Solid understanding of category management, merchandising, and promotional planning principles Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field Compensation Base Salary: $80,000 - 100,000 annually Bonus Program Comprehensive health & dental benefits Professional Development Opportunities #J-18808-Ljbffr
