We have a current need for Technical Director Civil Engineering Conveyance/Site servicing (Water Business) for the Ontario Engineering Design Organization. We are looking for an energetic, creative, motivated senior civil engineer with design management experience to work on challenging design projects and to support our dynamic and growing water business. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of leading engineering teams in Linear Water and Water/Wastewater treatment projects for the municipal and industrial sector, backed by a demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams from concept through detailed design and construction. They will also possess project management and business development skills and the ability to interact professionally with public and private sector clients as a technical leader and subject matter expert. The role can be based in any of our GTA offices Waterloo, Toronto, Mississauga, Markham or Whitby and is part of a hybrid model combining inoffice collaboration with flexibility. Responsibilities Provide technical leadership to civil engineering teams in the execution of major projects while working cooperatively with multidisciplinary design teams in the delivery of design packages and participating in design reviews. Support the Water Business groups in Business Development, working with Market leads to grow the water business within Canada. Supervise training, mentoring and skills development of the Civil Engineering team. Take on project roles such as Design Manager, Project Manager, Project Civil Discipline Lead, or Project Quality Manager. Lead technical development as a Design Discipline Lead and actively participate in the Community of Practice. Monitor and report project performance, progress and quality on behalf of GHD. What you will bring to the team Bachelors degree in civil engineering. A Professional Engineer registered with Ontario or other jurisdictions. Minimum twenty years of experience in a professional engineering consulting environment with notable project technical leadership and management experience. Outstanding interpersonal communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization in a collaborative fashion. Proven supervisory experience in mentoring design teams, providing handson technical guidance and QA/QC on all engineering designs, calculations, design briefs and technical reports for masterplans, environmental assessments and design projects. Mentor engineers and designers in the development of their consultancy, engineering and design skills. Promote corporate participation at technical conferences and provide senior guidance and review for key technical conference paper generation.
