Summer Junior Executive Policy Analyst Location: 11738 Kingsway Avenue NW Edmonton, Alberta Closing Date: April 3, 2026, or Until Suitable Candidate Found Position Status: Full Time (40 hrs per week), Temporary (May-August) The Otipemisiwak Mtis Government is recruiting for one (1) full-time, temporary Summer Junior Executive Policy Analyst. This is a summer term position with an end date August 28, 2026. Reporting to the Executive Advisor, the Summer Junior Executive Policy Analyst will be responsible for providing research, policy analysis, and administrative support to the Executive Department. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and will be required to both take direction and work intuitively to support the completion of the Otipemisiwak Mtis Governments goals and objectives in a professionally and culturally appropriate manner. Key Responsibilities Conduct background research on policy, economic development, and government initiatives relevant to Executive Department priorities. Assist in preparing briefing notes, memos, and summary documents for internal meetings. Review and summarize external reports, legislation, agreements, and policy materials. Compile research packages and information materials to support executive decisionmaking. Support meeting preparation by assembling agendas, materials, and followup notes. Assist in coordinating internal and external meetings and communications. Support the development and organization of project documentation, trackers, and internal reports. Assist with data collection and organization for projects and reporting requirements. Maintain project files, SharePoint folders, and document tracking systems. Maintain internal trackers for ongoing initiates and action items. Provide general support and attend internal and external events as required. Present a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with employees, citizens, visitors, and other external stakeholders. Maintain a high level of cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and confidentiality in all interactions and when handling sensitive documents. Other duties as required or assigned. Skills & Competencies We are looking for a motivated, confident individual who is passionate about Indigenous issues, economic development, and public policy. Commitment to teamwork and collaboration with colleagues is required. Other skills/competencies include: Proficient in Microsoft Suite applications and other computer applications/software. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including professional email etiquette and strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships. Strong planning and organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize daily tasks and longterm objectives. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and willingness to learn new skills. Flexible and adaptable, with an ability to switch between multiple priorities and work in a fastpaced environment. Political and cultural sensitivity. Knowledge of Mtis history, culture, and issues affecting Mtis people. An indepth understanding of the Otipemisiwak Mtis Government and Mtis culture, people, and values is an asset. Qualifications Postsecondary education in Economic Development, Commerce/Business, Public Administration, Political Science, Indigenous Studies, Humanities, or a related field is preferred. Other relevant training and experience will be considered. Experience with research, policy analysis, and professional writing is an asset. School or volunteer experience is valid experience. Other Requirements Availability to work Monday to Friday, 8:30 am 4:30 pm. Ability to work evenings and weekends, with notice. Ability to travel throughout Alberta is a requirement. Reliable transportation is required.
