Not funded by a EU programme Is the Job related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure? No Offer Description Contexte Objectif Context AEPONYX aims to develop an innovative technological platform dedicated to the integration and assembly of heterogeneous photonic circuits, with the ambition of profoundly transforming the strategic sectors of advanced telecommunications and quantum computing. Current photonicintegration approaches face major technical and economic limitations: complex and expensive processes, low integration density, and significant optical losses at interfaces between materials or components. These constraints hinder the deployment of compact, highperformance, and industrially competitive photonic systems. In this context, the project led by the Universit de Sherbrooke (UdeS) and AEPONYX seeks to push these boundaries by developing a modular , adaptable , and highyield platform capable of efficiently integrating, within a single system, photonic and quantum components originating from different technologies . This development will pave the way for new generations of highperformance hybrid systems that address the growing needs of tomorrows quantum and telecommunications applications. Objective The objective of the PhD project is to combine heterogeneousintegration technologies, MEMS microfabrication , and advanced packaging methods to develop robust, reproducible, and industrially compatible integration processes. These processes will be used to fabricate stateoftheart photonic devices for quantum applications. This interdisciplinary project spans a wide range of fields, including physics, materials science, photonics, and electrical and mechanical engineering. The system at the core of the project raises both fundamental (optics, photonics, quantum physics) and applied (fabrication, integration) research questions due to the unique challenges posed by the components and their heterogeneity. The PhD candidate will work in close collaboration with expert teams at AEPONYX, the Centre de Collaboration MiQro Innovation (C2MI), and the Interdisciplinary Institute for Technological Innovation (3IT), benefiting from an exceptional environment at the i nterface of industry and academic research .
