The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for managing the companys outgoing financial obligations. This role ensures timely and accurate processing of invoices, expense reports, and payments while maintaining strong vendor relationships and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. Key Responsibilities Review, verify, and process vendor invoices and expense reports Match purchase orders, invoices, and receiving documents (3-way match) Ensure proper coding of invoices to the general ledger Prepare and process payments (checks, EFT, wire transfers) Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies with vendors and purchasing Maintain accurate vendor records and update information as needed Respond to vendor inquiries in a timely and professional manner Month-end closing activities (AP accrual journal entries, account reconciliations) Prepare accounts payable aging reports Backup support for Bank Reconciliations and Accounts Receivable functions. Support audits by providing documentation and reports Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting regulations Accountabilities Timely and accurate completion of the month-end and year-end processes Build and maintain positive, professional interdepartmental and vendor relationships Obtain Enhanced Security Clearance from the Government of Canada Maintenance of secure and confidential company information Adherence to Colt Canada Corporations policies and procedures Qualifications College diploma or bachelors degree in accounting, finance, business or related field Minimum 5 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience Solid understanding of accounting principles and accounts payable best practices Proficiency in MS Office tools, including Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe, and SharePoint Experience with ERP systems (preferably Epicor) Strong attention to detail and accuracy Good organizational and time-management skills Ability to handle confidential information Accessibility on the Job Colt Canada provides accommodation in the recruitment process for applicants with disabilities in accordance with the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005.
