About the role: Westinghouse Electric Canada is a leading supplier of custom equipment, process systems and engineering consultant services for the Nuclear industry in Canada. You will join a creative team that supports Westinghouse''s mission to provide clean energy solutions. Specifically, as a Lead Engineer your responsibilities will include the design of mechanical systems and components both in the traditional nuclear market and in new projects to develop nuclear technology and future nuclear-powered systems. You will report to the Manager, Mechatronic Systems and Analysis and be located at our Peterborough, Ontario facility. You will work a hybrid work schedule and are expected to be onsite 2 days per week. Key Responsibilities: Lead technical teams in designing products, processes, components, or portions of a functional system. As part of a broader engineering solution, this includes creating layouts and detailing mechanisms, structures, and parts. These parts are for a major or more complex product component, portion of a functional system, manufacturing operation, or technically advanced prototype. Capable in leading engineering efforts on a project at the discipline level. Research ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, strengthweight efficiency and may prepare cost studies for assigned systems, structures and components. Work is independent and you will have demonstrated capability of not only mentoring engineers, but also the capability of leading teams of engineers in the execution of complex tasks. Qualifications: Licensed member of Professional Engineers Ontario, with a degree in either: Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Mechatronics, Nuclear Engineering or Applied Science. Minimum 12+ years of relevant experience including: Experience in conceptual design development, design reviews and engineering change control processes. Demonstrated experience in the substantiation of custom, first of a kind design within the scope of your practice. Experience working within computer aided design and analysis tools (for design roles only). Experience with manufacturing techniques, welding procedures or specifications and associated inspection techniques. Experience with relevant codes and standards applicable to the design of nuclear components and systems, including specialised tooling and remote handling equipment. Experience working with customer representatives and providing oversight of vendors. We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices.
