Job Description

Position Overview The Department of Internal Medicine, Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba and the St. Boniface Hospital are seeking a clinicianscientist (MD or MD/PhD) to fill the Heart & Stroke, St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, and Research Manitoba Chair in Womens Clinical Heart Health Research. The Chair is designed to provide salary and/or operating funds to pursue independent research in the study of Womens Heart Health, which is a priority of the Department of Internal Medicine and the Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences at St. Boniface Hospital. The position is a contingent appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Professor rank commencing July12026 (or as soon as possible thereafter) for a term of five years. Salary and rank will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. Crossappointment to a basic science and/or clinical science department is possible, with some restricted clinical activity desirable; a minimum of 50% time devoted to research will be expected. The position is open to both internal and external candidates. Research Focus Population health, outcomes research, and health policy Translational research and identification of novel diagnostics or therapeutic targets Fundamental studies in basic cardiovascular biology in health and disease including bioinformatic approaches Responsibilities Conduct independent, innovative research in Womens Clinical Heart Health that attracts funding and advances the scientific mission. Teach and mentor trainees, fostering the training of clinicians and scientists. Promote and strengthen research interactions with other clinical and basic researchers within and outside the Department of Medicine. Engage in restricted clinical activities to maintain a clinical profile, while ensuring at least 50% of the time is devoted to research. Qualifications MD or MD/PhD with specialty qualifications in Adult Cardiology in the country of current practice. Eligibility for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba; certification in Adult Cardiology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is preferred. Strong track record in cardiovascular research in Womens Heart Health, reflected by publications in highimpact journals and peerreviewed salary or operating funding from national granting agencies. Teaching experience and a strong record of mentoring trainees. Personal statement including your positionality, demonstrated commitment and approach to issues pertaining to antiracism and social justice (including principles of equity, access and participation) in teaching, research and service.
