FUNCTION & DUTIES: Under the Assistant Director of Complementary Services, the Consultant will work in close collaboration with the other special education consultants in all areas of special education to provide services to special needs students in Inuktitut and to contribute to the inservice training and course sessions of Inuit teachers. Assessment and diagnosis of students with suspected learning problems in the schools Identification of students with emotional and/or behavioural problems Training and support for the special education teachers and counsellors within the Board Ongoing development of culturally appropriate diagnostic tools and remedial material Inservice and teacher training in the areas of education Involvement in ongoing research concerning language of instruction. QUALIFICATIONS: Valid teaching diploma in the province of Quebec or close to graduating from the KativikMcGill Teacher Training Program At least three (3) years of teaching experience with children with special needs.
