Key Functions of the PSI Funding & Analytics unit: Leveraging internally and externally available financial data sources to compare Alberta postsecondary institutions with each other and with the rest of the country. Supporting funding decisions by ensuring they are based on evidence and Albertas unique postsecondary education system. Updating and monitoring financial policies relating to postsecondary institution activities under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Advanced Education. Responsibilities Conduct complex qualitative and quantitative analysis using financial and institutional datasets to support funding decisions and systemlevel insights. Contribute to the development, maintenance, and improvement of funding model criteria and methodologies aligned with Albertas postsecondary funding framework. Integrate financial data from multiple sources to support analysis of institutional financial operations and systemwide trends. Develop and maintain financial metrics and analytical tools that enhance understanding of postsecondary institutional performance. Interpret and communicate financial policies, guidelines, and reporting requirements to colleagues and institutional partners. Provide analysis and advice related to institutional borrowing requests, including assessing risks and financial implications. Develop briefing materials and analytical reports to support executive decisionmaking and strategic planning. Maintain and enhance the Ministrys repository of financial metrics and data related to postsecondary institutions. Collaborate with program areas and external stakeholders to improve data collection processes and analytical approaches. Provide subjectmatter expertise on financial analytics and support crossministry initiatives related to postsecondary funding and accountability. Qualifications University graduation in a related field preferably in Business, Financial Statistics, Financial Mathematics, Actuarial science, or closely related fields with a focus in Data Analytics plus four years related experience. Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education. Assets: Experience with current methodologies in data analytics, regression analysis, data visualization, data modeling, and storytelling. Experience with financial analysis, producing reports and presentations to share critical findings. Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Excel skills (including creation of macros, cubes, and pivot tables). Analytical tool experience (Excel, Python, Power BI, and/or others). Experience related to Albertas adult learning system. Experience with Accounting principles and best practices including Public Sector Accounting Standards.
